At the property's centre, you'll find a painstakingly restored Lanna-style structure, which houses a lounge, small library and spa. Wide verandas provide an idyllic spot to relax with a good book, while the rooftop wine bar offers fantastic views at sunset. TIME restaurant is decorated in a vintage-industrial combination and serves a range of northern Thai and international cuisine. The breakfast buffet is superb and we'd recommend enjoying it on the pretty lawns. In the evening, head to the nearby Rice Barn, a converted space that's now an intimate bar.
Clustered around the hotel's central pool, the 39 rooms are housed in a collection of half-wood villas. They are beautifully appointed with teak and rattan furnishings, handmade decor features, and supremely comfortable beds. Right on the river bank, there are four luxury suites, each with their own signature style and a private pool. The bathrooms are lovely and decorated in fine tiles, and most rooms have a large tub and rainfall shower too.
The bygone city centre of Chiang Mai is just a 10-minute tuk tuk ride away, making it easy to zip off and take in the sights. Alternatively, take a cruise down the river with a tasty picnic to snack on, or cycle down quiet country roads. You never know what you might stumble upon! Chiang Mai's famous Night Market is a five-minute walk away and makes for a wonderful evening diversion. The hotel's Afternoon Tea is also worth carving out some time for.
