Surrounded by fronds of pretty greenery, O Sítio Ilha Grande is divided into the Cabana and the Sobrado (mansion). Served in the main hall, alongside pretty garden views, meals are fresh and plentiful and, although the lunch and dinner menu is short and sweet, they are delicious – the ceviche is a particular favourite. Meals can also be delivered to Abraãozinho Beach, an almost private spot on the island. The hotel also has a games, TV and reading area with a selection of books.
The Cabin has five suites, all with individual entrances, while the Mansion has just three. The style is minimal - think plenty of white linens and light woods and a no unnecessary knick knacks scattered about (and no TV or minibar either). All rooms do, however, come with mosquito nets, aircon and a ceiling fan, and an en-suite with a large shower and heated towel rail. The largest of all is the Deluxe Suite, with its enormous king-sized bed, a small kitchenette and a balcony with a sea view.
Ilha Grande has over 100 magnificent beaches to choose. So many so, in fact, that you could spend each day on a different beach! Book the half-day beach tour on the hotel's private speed boat to make the most of your time. At the 'Ranch', you'll find all the gear you need for kayaking, SUPing and snorkelling and on land, there are some fantastic hiking trails through pure Atlantic Forest, where you might spy striking birdlife, butterflies and monkeys. You can visit nearby villages as well, but be prepared to get a bit wet.
