The property

Canvas pavilions house the breezy sitting area and dining room, where you can enjoy all-day dining overlooking the lake. Tuck into a range of local delicacies and more international fare including barbecued dishes and veggies hand-picked from the organic garden. Relax with traditional Ayurvedic treatments at the spa, a peaceful yoga session or a dip in the heated infinity pool. The bar is well-stocked with herbal-infused drinks and the firepit is a lovely spot to enjoy views of the lake as the day fades.

The rooms

Echoing the surroundings, the tents are filled with wildlife-inspired murals of embroidered trees and birdlife. Each tented suite comes with a large bed and a skylight overhead, tea/coffee facilities, and a sitting area in shades of green, yellow or plum. Glass doors open onto a private patio, which is the ultimate sunrise spot. Pink-hued en suite bathrooms each have a shower, deep porcelain tub and wide windows looking out over the lake. The tents also come with air-con and heating, making them comfortable year round.

Activities

As well as the stellar bird watching, nature walks along well-maintained trails and boating through the mangroves are a must. You might even spot a buck drinking at the water's edge. Although there isn't as much variety as Rajasthan's national parks; on wilderness drives across the undergrowth, keep an eye out for blue bulls, jackals, wild hogs and birds of prey soaring above. You can also enjoy a picnic on your travels! Get a taste of local life with a tour of nearby farms and Bishnoi villages, a fascinating people who act as nature's caretakers.
