Reni Pani

The Gol Ghar (or 'meeting place') is a cosy area with a bar, dining room and a peaceful library for cup of tea and an afternoon with a good book. There's also a small gift shop to put the plastic to use. During the day, head to the pool for a dip and a chance to wildlife-watch at the nearby nullah (waterhole). At night, pull up a pew at one of the fire pits and share stories with your fellow travellers.

Reni Pani is made up of 12 cottages and four luxury tents. The cottages are either perched on the hilltop (the aptly-named Hilltop Cottage has the best views), the lowland forest or next to the river. Super-spacious, all have indoor and outdoor bathrooms, air con and enormous viewing windows. The air-conditioned tents are set up near a local waterhole so a stay here should also afford you a glimpse of some local wildlife.

The big drawcard is of course the chance to explore Satpura National Park on daily 4X4 safaris in search of tigers, sloth bears, wild dog and gaur. Guests are also encouraged to explore on foot on guided nature walks, and there are canoe trips, village visits and horse-riding excursions too.
