About Rohet Garh

Horseback safaris and cooking with the masters in rural Rajasthan.
As a member of the well-known House of Rohet, you'd expect nothing less than vintage, patterned decor and memorable experiences. At Rohet Garh, this takes the form of cooking workshops in the colourful kitchen and exploring the countryside on horseback. Set on the banks of a lake, your first look at Rohet Garh begins with the beautifully painted entrance, which leads you into a medley of gardens, picturesque courtyards and cupola-topped buildings. By day, the hotel wears a colourful shawl of flowers and by night, it comes alive with music and dance around the firepit.

Property details

The property

Rohet Garh is well laid out with a shimmering pool alongside a canopied dining area, which serves traditional Rajasthani cuisine. You can also enjoy a meal beneath the trees in the courtyard or dine with a lake view on the patio. Tattva Spa offers a variety of therapies from a deeply relaxing full-body massage to reflexology. Enjoy a drink at the eclectic bar, afternoon tea in the drawing room, or while away the afternoon on a daybed under a floaty gazebo.

The rooms

The hotel has 30 Deluxe Rooms and six suites, each with its own bespoke design. Amenities include a desk, en-suite bathroom, double or twin beds and furniture designed in-house. Decked out in traditional motifs and patterned rugs, the Deluxe Rooms come with a window seat and living area; while the suites have a large lounge area and double basins. Some suites also have a private patio and four poster beds with delicate drapes.

Activities

As a pioneer of the village safari, Rohet Garh's tour of local villages is top of the list. Meet Rajasthan's ecologists, the Bishnois, and watch artisans as they create pottery and woven handicrafts. Rohet's passion for Marwari horses goes back generations and they love sharing it with guests on rides across the landscape, where you could spot anything from black buck to chinkara. They even throw in a cushy picnic by the river. Explore the nearby lakes on foot or bicycle - the birdlife is fantastic and in the winter, you can see up to 200 species!

Rohet Garh's cuisine is, dare we say it, legendary. Their chefs were trained by the late great Thakurani Sahiba himself.

Insiders Tip

It's worth visiting during Gangaur, Rajasthan's spring festival. The dancing, music and fair is a riot of colour.

Something to think about

The antique decor and style of the rooms can feel a little dated, but that's all part of its charm.
