At Rohet's centre is a cosy lounge with rich carpets, chandeliers filling the room with soft light and an ornate fireplace. It's the perfect place for a night cap with the family, hearing stories about the portraits dotted throughout the house. In the airy dining room complete with elephant murals, tuck into meals straight out of the family's personal kitchen, including the infamous Rajasthani thalis. Time outside can be enjoyed with High Tea on the blush-coloured veranda, a dip in the oh-so-inviting pool or drinks by the fire pit.
Motifs inspired by Indian mythology and fables fill the rooms with colour - and all have a lovely garden view. From summery florals to hot pinks with scatter cushions to match, the hotel's six suites and three standard rooms are uniquely designed. Each room also comes with air con, flat screen TV, Nespresso machine and mini lounge area for a little extra relaxation. The en-suite bathrooms are quite grand on their own, complete with Forest Essentials toiletries and antique mirrors.
Despite being a quiet haven, The Rohet House isn't far from some Jodhpur staples. With the manager, Avijit Singh, leading the way, start your day off with an early-morning excursion before the city wakes up. The hotel also offers personalised food trails and shopping experiences (think gorgeous textiles and the ever-important lac jewellery). The nearby Jaswant Thada is an incredible royal cenotaph with some stories to tell - like the memorial of a peacock who is rumored to have flown into the Maharaja's funeral pyre.
A melee of sky-blue buildings, medieval streets and the mightiest fort of them all, Mehrangarh.
