The futuristic architecture has been designed to perfectly complement Shakti's breathtaking surroundings. Efforts have also been made to keep the footprint as small as possible and the whole place is solar-powered and natural textiles are used throughout. Despite being a world away from, well, the world, outstanding food is totally standard and you'll have an opportunity to taste both Tibetan and Indian recipes. Munch either in the communal living and dining areas (next to the fireplace is the prime spot), or request a private dinner at your room.
The four stone-built bedroom cabins have at least one wall of glass so you never have to be without those incredible views. Inside, there are wood-burning stoves to keep you warm, cosy pashminas to sink into and plenty of sheepskin rugs adorn the slate floors. Bathrooms are spacious and beautiful with enormous showers and brass fittings, and each of the rooms has an excellent selection of games as well, just in case you fancy a break from hiking... At night, when the stars begin to flicker, head outside to your private fire-pit and get ready for the celestial show.
Hiking, hiking and more hiking. The area around Shakti is spectacular - think crystal waterfalls tumbling into ice-blue pools, temples hiding in the forests and ever-so pretty local villages - and exploring on foot is always magical. We also recommend taking a cookery class with a local family, and learning the secrets of the native cuisine. Guided sun salutations and yoga sessions can also be arranged if you're looking for a meditative experience - we're not sure there could be a better setting for it.
