About Suján Jawai

In the leopard capital of India, this is no ordinary camp - with activities to match.
In a landscape of granite peaks, roaming leopards and the the quaint villages of Jawai, SUJÁN blends sophistication and eco-living with its 10 luxury tents. Breaking with tradition, the tents are industrial chic with their mix of burnished metal and canvas - all seasonally rebuilt on shipping containers to minimise their footprint. Black and white photos of leopards and pops of scarlet, paying homage to the signature turbans of the Rabari herdsmen hint at days spent in the wilderness. After a welcome of rose lemonade or champagne, SUJÁN is a fine-tuned camp with adventure in its roots.

Property details

The property

Meal times are a non-entity at SUJÁN as they follow the rhythm of game drives and outings. Tuck into a medley of local flavours and Western dishes in the airy dining tent or around a bonfire on the terrace as you swap stories from the day. Enjoy a massage at the spa tent, yoga by the tranquil river or a soak in the infinity pool. The lounge is decked out in camel-coloured chairs with shiny black trunks as coffee tables and the boutique has a lovely selection of nature-inspired accessories.

The rooms

In shades of cardinal red, white and sleek black decor, the tents each come with a large canopied bed, en-suite bathroom, veranda and a desk with field books to document your sightings. The family suites have double bedrooms, a private dining area and vanity counter. The Royal Tented Suite lives up to its name with a private heated pool, butler and an exclusive-use jeep for game drives (plus, a long-range camera!). It also has a bar counter, dining area and lounge on the veranda overlooking fields of wild oats.

Activities

At SUJÁN, there's an activity in every direction. Head out on wilderness drives before dawn as you look out for leopards, birdlife galore and crocodiles at Jawai dam. Stroll through the fields with Rabari herdsmen as you track animals on foot, visit one of the 300 temples and shrines on a quiet hilltop or and learn a favourite local pastime in neighbouring villages. Cycling and hiking trails are also available, including a trek up the nearby Mount BaliRaja for the adventurous among you.
