About Taj Lake Palace

Like a white lily atop Lake Pichola, plush rooms and fairytale views await at the Taj.
The city's tapestry of placid lakes and romantic architecture meet in style at the Taj Lake Palace - a vision in marble. The hotel was built as an island in the middle of Lake Pichola and has become a well-loved part of the landscape. As well as panoramic views of its watery garden, gaze out at the lofty Aravali hills and the famous City Palace - a view enjoyed from almost every room. Gliding across the lake towards the palace is a dreamy sight after a day of soaking the senses, perfectly topped off with a welcome of cascading rose petals.

The property

The Taj comes with dining options to suit all palettes. Tuck into authentic Rajasthani dishes under an intricate lotus motif and views over the lily pond; enjoy European fare amongst the turrets at the seasonally open-air, Bhario; and for a more informal meal, the 24-hour Jharokha has a lovely spot overlooking the lake. Grab a glass of vintage wine or a colourful cocktail at the ornate Amrit Sagar bar or enjoy a dip in the large and pristine pool complete with shaded loungers under a grand pavilion. Visit the Jiva Spa for pampering treatments from delightful aromatherapy to rich, spiced scrubs.

The rooms

Decked out in metallic hues and floral-inspired designs, the Taj's menu of rooms and suites each have a comfortable king size bed (or twins) and window seats to take every advantage of the view. The Taj's crown jewel is the Grand Presidential suite complete with a private balcony, jacuzzi and dining area. Gorgeous Indian silks, teak wood furnishings and a marble en-suite bathroom come with each room as well as the attentive care of a personal butler.

Activities

Your sojourn into Udaipur's history can begin within the palace walls with a heritage walk where you'll hear royal anecdotes from across the years. Thanks to its multitude of storied buildings alongside natural gems, Udaipur will have you wanting to spend full days roaming its streets. Discover fine Mewari paintings and the world's largest turban at Bagore ki Haveli; stroll down Jagdish Temple Road with leather goods and fine fabrics to your left and right; and a little out of town, the wildlife rich SajjanGarh Biological Park awaits - plus the enchanting Monsoon Palace.

Something to think about

The Taj doesn't allow outside guests to visit the palace so a night at one of Udaipur's rooftop restaurants might be in order if you've got friends in town.
