Tangala Safari Camp

A traditional open-sided, thatched-roof structure shades two separate lounges and a bar. The comfortable furnishings allow for plenty of stretched-out lazing, but we suggest you head for the raised deck outside. Get comfortable beneath an electric-green umbrella with your book and binoculars, and prepare to do very little reading – the large waterhole just beyond the deck provides plenty of action. Too hot? Cool off in the pool, also overlooking the waterhole.

Four chalets and six tents each sleep two guests in double- or twin-bedded comfort. The chalets and tents have identical amenities – an en-suite bathroom with double basins and a shower, hot water, electricity, and fans to cool you on hot summer nights. The tents are canvas-walled in that authentic safari style, with large windows and a clean, uncluttered feel. Bothchalets and tents have large shaded porches, perfect for midday lounging.

Game drives keep guests busy here. Because of the terrain and number of large, charismatic species that amble freely between Kruger and Thornybush, drives provide the best opportunity to tick off your list of must-sees. There are strict rules about how many cars can be at a single sighting, so you won't feel crowded. Don't miss a guided bush walk, though. Exploring the bush on foot can turn up a few surprisingly small-but-big revelations along the way.
