About The Float House River Kwai Resort

You can't get much closer to the River Kwai than this floating dream hotel.
If you're visiting Kanchanaburi we're willing to guess that the River Kwai might have something to do with your pilgrimage. If it is indeed your focus, you can't do much better than The Float House River Kwai Resort. Set right on the banks of the famous river, the hotel doesn't even have a pool, so close is the water that you can jump directly into the Kwai from your villa! Location-wise, it's an hour outside of Kanchanaburi and a cool (literally) spot to relax amidst the lush jungle. If you're after something a little different, this is your place.

Property details

The property

The clue's in the name and yes, the hotel really does float! The incredible location, right on the Kwai River, is spectacular and staying here is an experience not to be forgotten. Arrival is by boat and you'll be welcomed straight into the Pontoon Restaurant, which makes the most of local produce and Thai favours. There's also a small, open-air spa for those looking to work out any knots; otherwise, it's straight to the incredible villas.

The rooms

The 30 villas sit smack bang on the river, providing perfect river views from the individual sundecks - and the ability to jump into the water when you need a refresher! All rooms are decorated with local Thai artwork and feature plenty of polished teak wood, bamboo and light-as-a-cloud drapes. All enjoy air-conditioning (necessary in the tropical heat) and blissful rain showers, and some can be connected so be sure to ask if you're travelling as a family or in a group.

Activities

A stay at the Float House is about immersing yourself in nature and disconnecting from the world - and you don't need to try hard to do that! Outside the hotel, you can visit the nearby and very impressive Lawa Cave. As you explore its vast chambers, keep your eyes peeled for a glimpse of its famous inhabitant, the Kitti bat - the smallest bat in the world! Canoe trips on the river can be arranged, whilst nearby Kanchanaburi offers plenty of options for budding historians who can learn about the poignant past and the fate of the POWs who helped build the famous railway.
