About The Manor Hotel

Kigali's grandest hotel – an ideal refuge before or after your gorilla trek
Situated just minutes from Kigali's international airport, The Manor is a great place to overnight before or after a gorilla-trekking safari. It's a grand hotel with all mod cons – a tribute to the dignity and style in which this beautiful country has emerged from its tragic past. Expect sophistication, African style – The Manor works hard to equal the sophisticated hotels of Europe, so comments are noted and constant upgrades are being made. You're in the heart of Kigali here, close to the city's attractions. The three restaurants offer good meals, and there's a spa to ease post-trek aches.

Property details

The property

You'll feel the tranquil atmosphere as you enter the tiled reception area, and the lounge beyond it has comfortable seating if you're longing to take the weight off. Dine at three good restaurants – the Shere Sardar (with its colourful draped ceiling) serves Indian and Pakistani cuisine, Marco's focuses on English high teas and continental dishes, and Silks has an irresistible Chinese menu. See the views of Kigali and its mountains from the roof-top bar. There's a spa and pool.

The rooms

The rooms come in a variety of sizes tailored for your requirements and budget, but every one is clean, comfortable and spacious. All have aircon, an en-suite bathroom complete with toiletries, a TV and complimentary wi-fi. Recent problems with unstable wi-fi connectivity and hot water have, management assures us, been attended to, and some of the guestrooms are being upgraded. Ty the Pub (but we were told that the Pub would be renovated soon).

Activities

The hotel is conveniently close to some of Kigali's principal attractions. Visit the Presidential Palace Museum to explore the home of late President Juvenal Habyarimana and gain an overview of Rwanda’s history. Spend a moment in contemplation of human folly at the sobering but unmissable Genocide Memorial Centre. View vibrant works by local artists – the children's work is amazing – at The Inema Art Centre, which also has a terrace cafe. A golfer? There's a course near the hotel.
