About Xigera Safari Lodge

Taking the Delta experience to new heights at this eco-loving beauty of a lodge.
The wonders of the Okavango Delta surround you at the latest addition to this hotbed of safari dreams, Xigera Safari Lodge, which arrived bright-eyed and bushy-tailed in 2020. Nestled on an island, the newcomer promises to impress with a dose of luxury and flair, but never losing that personal touch. With a philosophy of, 'anything, any time', this will be a safari experience all on your own terms. Entirely suspended on stilts and 100% solar-powered, Xigera protects its natural home (and those four-legged neighbours). Plus, the lodge is shaping up to be nothing short of gorgeous.

Property details

The property

With a stunning design (often lily-inspired) and artwork that turns Xigera into a living gallery, the lodge surprises at every turn. Human-sized woven nests await on the deck while a 3-storey baobab sculpture just happens to double as a sleep-out spot. Enjoy some deeply relaxing spa treatments or take a dip in the indigo pool overlooking the river. African-inspired cuisine and a world-class wine selection are on the menu, not to mention storytelling and stargazing around the fire pit as the night sky comes alive.

The rooms

12 suites are on offer at Xigera (including a double family suite), each perfectly positioned to soak up those Delta views. Every room has a unique design with handmade furniture and artwork, and come complete with a king size bed, outdoor shower and idyllic private deck - perfect for watching the world and the wildlife go by. Tinted glass windows keep the temperature just right, but can be kept open to enjoy a birdsong! Built with flame-torched timber, canvas roofs and connected by elevated walkways, you'll feel right at home under a ceiling of trees.

Activities

With private access to a piece of Moremi Game Reserve, Xigera has a spot in one of the Delta's major waterways so boating along all-natural canals or enjoying 'feet-in-the-water' sundowners is a must. Game drives, walking safaris with expert guides, and a scenic helicopter flight (for an extra charge) are all top of the list. Expect to see the likes of sitatunga antelope, elephant and a plethora of feathered locals (as well as a tonne of other wildlife). You may even spot a few leopards and lions taking a stroll along the footbridge to the island.

The lodge library has experts that pop in to impart a little knowledge - definitely worth setting aside some time for.
Something to think about

Something to think about

There are no night drives and you'll be arriving by light aircraft transfer or chartered plane, which adds some weight to the average price tag (but the Okavango is a more expensive safari destination).
