About Zambezi Sands River Camp

A safari-style camp in a beautiful, remote location with good access to Victoria Falls.
Zambezi Sands is an elegant, tented lodge situated in the western area of the Zambezi National Park on the banks of the Zambezi River, upstream of the Victoria Falls. It is one of the newest camps in the Victoria Falls region and the winner of the Best New Zimbabwe Camp title in the 2016 Safari Awards. Zambezi Sands is unique in that it features not only the Zambezi River with its water-based activities, great wildlife and scenery, but is also close enough to go to Victoria Falls for the day. The camp offers many picturesque game viewing opportunities.

Property details

The property

The main area is in the centre of the camp. It is raised up on stilts like the rest of the camp and is right on the banks of the river. The dining room, lounge and bar areas are all housed here. Meals are often served on the deck at the front of the main area, weather permitting. Tables and chairs are spread around a sunken firepit, for cosy gatherings. The jetty where boating activities depart from is here too.

The rooms

Accommodation at Zambezi Sands is in eight secluded, luxurious, Bedouin-style tents facing the river. Each one offers complete privacy with private decks and plunge pools. The rooms are elegantly decorated and very spacious. They feature twin or double beds, a lounge area, a stocked mini-bar, an en-suite bathroom, an outdoor shower, a private splash pool and electricity by diesel or solar generator. Bath robes, mosquito nets and complimentary laundry facilities are also provided.

Activities

Cruise on the Zambezi River amongst the islands near the lodge and enjoy the river, its wildlife and the sunset with complimentary drinks and snacks. Go on game drives on traditional open safari vehicles or on game walks in the Park - both with fully licensed and highly experienced professional guides. Guided canoe trips along the Zambezi River and guided fishing expeditions are also available. Picnic lunches can be requested for island picnics. Visits to Victoria Falls can be arranged.

What you'll love

What you'll love

Zambezi Sands gives you the best of both worlds - access to the fabulous Victoria Falls but in a remote, bush environment.
Insiders tip

Insiders Tip

There's a lot to get your teeth into so it's worth considering a longer stay. As well as game drives and bush walks, there's fly fishing and canoeing (and Vic Falls trips) so a three-night stay would be perfect.
Something to think about

Something to think about

The camp is an hour away from Victoria Falls along the forest route, or 90-minutes along the river route, so it's not ideal if you only have a night or two spare and need quick access.
