A handsome building with Juliet balconies overlooking the tree-lined street, Casa Bueras combines its contemporary, artistic side with good old-fashioned hospitality. The dining room is slick with charcoal walls and mismatched frames, whilst the foyer is bright and polished with a bejewelled chandelier and ornate staircase leading to the upper floors. Terraces are furnished with cushioned banquettes and tea tables, which offer a view of the garden and well-hidden pool.
Casa Bueras offers a range of rooms and suites with a street or garden view. Their decor runs the gamut from soft creams and browns to bright purple, and the array of artwork depicts everything from local architecture to Andean flora. The large beds enjoy pillow-top mattresses, and blackout curtains ensure a premium night's sleep. The bathrooms are lovely with wide mirrors, a rainfall shower and bathtub, while one of the deluxe rooms even has a private Jacuzzi.
There's plenty for the history buffs in Santiago, beginning with the historic Main Square, and branching out to the grand cathedral and Sacramentinos Church, the Neo-Classical La Moneda Palace and a fascinating collection of museums. Visit the Museo Chileno de Arte Precolombino to see sculptures, jewellery and artwork from Pre-Columbian America. Ride the funicular to the top of San Cristobal Hill or take in views at sunset Sky Costanera, which stands at 1000 feet tall. And be sure to stop in at one of the city's top restaurants in between!
