The main building is a Spanish-style villa with beautiful bohemian décor. High windows allow the ever-present Mendoza sunlight to wash over the common areas, grapevine chandeliers adorn the restaurant, and the living room houses a grand piano and cosy fireplace for winter. Breakfast is a flower-laden buffet of yummy choices, and the restaurant serves seasonal cuisine with local ingredients the stars of the exquisite yet unpretentious dishes. The intimate spa and pool are the perfect combo for a relaxing afternoon that ends with a chilled rosé (perhaps Cavas' own Cecilia's Becquignol) and mountain views.
The 18 private villas are tucked away amidst the vines, each a generously-sized, adobe slice of heaven - the smallest coming in at over 90 m2. Exuding nothing but calm, every villa has a writing desk (views of the Andes will distract you from any of the sort, however), an outdoor shower, and bathrooms with jet showers and tubs - treat yourself to a soak in the wine-infused bath salts. The best part? Your very own plunge pool and stunning rooftop terrace with a fire that's somehow always lit! Just picture a lovely bottle of Malbec, wool blankets, and the stunning Andean sky for stargazing hours on end...
Checking out the vineyards is a must and Cavas organises visits to the most boutique wineries in the area. But the unabashedly superlative Mendoza landscapes and great weather - over 320 days of sun a year - beckon most to enjoy the other outdoorsy adventures. The concierge will happily arrange horseback riding or biking excursions, zip-lining, hikes with impressive vistas or even whitewater rafting, while alfresco cooking classes at the hotel are good fun. For a romantic activity, the hotel can organise a candlelit sunset dinner on your private rooftop terrace, and the spa is a destination in itself - check out the wine therapy and a menu of others!
Mountain backdrops, countless vineyards, outdoors activities and Malbec for days… Wine not?
