About Ekorian’s Mugie Camp

Animal-spotting, bush meals and camel rides are all in a day's work at this wildlife gem.
In an area where conservation is a thriving part of the safari landscape, Ekorian's Mugie Camp fits right in. With their vision for guests to reconnect with nature, you can expect nothing less than a passion for animals and eco-friendly living. All water used at the camp is rain-harvested; their electricity is solar-powered; clothes are hand-washed and plastic water bottles are persona non grata (except for the reusable ones they supply for game drives). Speaking of, Ekorian's lives up to its location with plenty of wildlife activities on offer. Plus, they have an adorable 'live-in' giraffe called Tala!

Property details

The property

Designed to feel like part of the land, the warm and earthy colours of Ekorian's makes for a cosy environment. The central mess tent is perfect for family dining along with a comfortable lounge for relaxing. The locally-sourced and homemade meals are all tasty, and some produce is even grown in the camp's vegetable garden. A shady deck is up next, which looks out over the chemical-free pool and just happens to have a great view of the watering hole too.

The rooms

There's no lack of comfort here, with 6 simple but spacious tents and en-suites with hot, running water. The tents are raised on wooden decks covered in a papyrus roof. You can choose a twin or double bed arrangement in each room. Tent One is nearest to the dining tent and comes with a kid's annexe, which is ideal for families. Recycled wine bottles are used to supply drinking water in the tents while the complimentary soap, shampoo, conditioner and lotion are all eco-friendly and chemical-free.

Activities

In short, there is a ridiculous amount of things to do here! Head off on a game drive and spot anything from buffalo to elephant and zebra, not to mention the birdlife. You could even make it a night drive and try your hand with some nocturnal creatures. Go kayaking on the Mugie or enjoy a bush walk with one of the camp's expert guides; spend a few hours watching the anti-poaching bloodhounds in action; go on a camel ride; or even join the team on one of their community engagement programs. See what we mean?

Using solar power means no hairdryers or electric razors but that just gets you into the safari spirit.
