About El Fenn Hotel

Down-right-gorgeous & packed with pampering amenities, El Fenn is an oasis in the Red City
Within spying distance of the grand Koutoubia Mosque, the El Fenn Hotel is actually a dozen riads, which form a sprawling maze of pretty courtyards, collonaded balconies and quiet nooks where resident tortoises amble past your feet. Co-owned by Vanessa Branson (yes, that Branson), the hotel is decorated in a plumage of jewel-bright colours, magazine-ready furnishings and works from her private art collection. And that's just on the ground floor; El Fenn's crowning glory is 1,300 square metres of rooftop real estate where you can sip on a 'Red City Rosé Cooler' as the sun sets over the Atlas Mountains.

Property details

The property

Every inch of El Fenn is perfectly curated, not just to exude style, but to ensure its guests are always in optimum comfort. There are no less than four pools, the last of which is located in a serene corner of the spa, where you can enjoy a steam in the hammam or a menu of heavenly treatments. Meals can be enjoyed on the sunny rooftop (a fantastic spot for breakfast) or the Colonnade Cafe, where the inventive Moroccan dinner menu really wows.

The rooms

Individually designed with an artist's eye, each room is splashed with colour, from mustard couches, to turquoise walls and rust-red cushions. Mid-century European furnishings form an effective contrast to the Moroccan architecture and tall, domed windows let in the light. Unique, hand-picked pieces set each room apart, whether it's bold artwork or hand-stitched camel leather rugs. Most rooms also feature an enormous bathtub and a fireplace, and the most luxurious boast their own plunge pool too.

Activities

As you'll no doubt see from the rooftop perch, El Fenn is within strolling distance of many of Marrakesh's coveted sights. Marvel at the minarets of its 12th-century Koutoubia Mosque, take in the beauty of the Jardin Marjorelle, and get swept up in the flurry of activity at the souks of the Djemaa el-Fna. You'll also have the chance to have a lesson in carpet weaving and learn to cook Moroccan cuisine like a local. After all that walking, an argan oil massage sounds just right.
