Painted entirely white, the box-like lodge appears to float on Lake Pehoe and makes the most of its coveted views. Inside, slate, light woods and copper create a clean, minimalist atmosphere. Surrounded by large picture windows, the dining room serves fresh, innovative dishes accompanied by Chilean wines. The Explorer's Bar is where you'll be briefed by the guides on the following day's adventures, while the lounge area is warmed by a wood fire and provides a cosy spot to chat with other travellers, or tuck into a new read from the boutique.
Decorated in a similar style and palette as the main lodge, the rooms have almond-wood floors topped with cosy, grey rugs, a plush, King-sized bed and as many windows as the walls can hold. The views differ between room types but most overlook the soaring Macizo del Paine and Lake Pehoe, while some face the shimmering Salto Chico waterfall. Each room has a small sitting area, central heating and a well-appointed en-suite, and the Exploradores Suites feature an additional jetted tub. In keeping with their nature-first focus, all rooms are TV-free.
The Explora offers an impressive menu of activities including hikes, horseback rides and drives to every corner of the Torres del Paine. You'll have the chance to see the Paine Horns up close, trek across the landscape taking in views of valleys, glaciers and lakes as you go, and search for colourful native flowers and guanacos amongst the foliage. You may even peer over condor nesting sites or stop for lunch in a forest alive with twittering birdlife, before heading back for a good soak in the heated pool.
