About Gomoti Private Camp

Floodplains and abundant wildlife at this two-tent camp in Botswana's southeast Okavango
Need a small, intimate camp in the wilderness for just you and your family? Gomoti Private Camp may well be just the ticket. Set on the edge of the Gomoti River system in the southeast seeps of Botswana's Okavango Delta, Gomoti Private Camp lies in a private, community-run concession. There's a small, dedicated staff to assure you're well-fed and cared-for, your own guides to lead mokoro cruises along the waterways (with their plentiful birdlife), and to drive you across the plains to see some of the Okavango's big animals. You're far from the world here – enjoy the break!

Property details

The property

The camp sits in a mature riverine forest (gomoti is the local name for the waterfig) on the edge of a seasonal floodplain. The elevated dining/lounge area is furnished with a long family-style table and plenty of sofas. Between the lounge deck and floodplain is a open sandy area where the campfire crackles invitingly in the early mornings and evenings. There's a small plunge pool, a spa therapist, and near-constant views of elephant, antelope and birds from all corners.

The rooms

Accommodation is one luxury double tent and one luxury family tent, both raised on wooden decks. The interior decor is classic safari, designed to make the most of the views. Both have private verandas, hot/cold running water, inside and outdoor showers and flush toilets, and electricity for lighting, and charging of batteries and computers. The family tent comprises two rooms with a large, shared bathroom. The double tent is spacious, with its bed oriented to the views of the floodplain.

Activities

Your days are yours to plan, although we recommend you follow the advice of the guides, who know this area extraordinarily well. Game drives across the plains get you some superb sightings; walking safaris are excellent for getting to grips with the smaller creatures and vegetation. Mokoro trips through the shallows are great for photographs; motorboat rides along the delta's switching channels will reveal elephant, hippo, and a myriad birds. At night, the sky is all the entertainment you need.
