Property details

The property

At the property's centre is an elegant building of wood and stone, with giant windows to let in the striking view. Patagonian-inspired decor fills the rooms, from Mapuche rugs to the doors, furniture and statues hand-carved on site. Under the warm glow of tubular lights, tuck into menus of gourmet Chilean fare (seafood is a major feature) and ingredients picked from the hotel's organic garden. Look out for their ulmo honey and preserves at breakfast. The spa offers a range of body-wraps and massages, and you'll also find a yoga studio and heated outdoor pool.

The rooms

On a grassy hillside facing the stony beach, there is a collection of four or two-suite villas. The villas are well-spaced for privacy, and share a lounge, kitchen and patio with a wood-burning hot tub. The suites have plush furnishings in soft tones, delicate wooden elements and threaded rugs, while bright paintings of local flora adorn the walls. The bathrooms are spacious and have heated towel racks for added comfort. You can rent a suite on its own, or book the entire villa.

Activities

Venture out on the water to spot playful sea otters, seals and swooping marine birds, idle past rock colonies of penguins and sea lions, and look for the spout of humpback or blue whales (between December and March). You could even jump in for a spot of snorkelling, or do a little exploring on your own via kayak. Choose to remain on terra firma for bicycle rides over the dunes, or hikes along the coast and into the surrounding rainforest - your guides will happily share the folklore inspired by local birdlife.

The hotel is far removed from the rest of the Lake District so the more famous landmarks won't be easily accessible.
