About Khwai Lediba

If value was measured in remoteness, this lodge would be a steal
After a total refurbishment in 2023, this bush camp in the Okavango's vast Khwai Concession couldn't be more isolated in the wilderness, yet it has all the style and comforts of any top lodge. On a beautiful lagoon connected to the Khwai River, the sprawling tented camp has an authentic but elegant feel. Relaxing on the main raised deck, you feel part of the surrounding woodlands with views of the expansive floodplains in front of the lodge. Wildlife of all kinds passes through this area, including plains game and numerous silent, and not-so-silent predators (such as lion, leopard and wild dogs).

Property details

The property

Khwai Lediba's central area is a raised marquee overlooking a quiet lagoon, the perfect place to sit and unwind. The open-plan communal areas with comfortable, rustic furniture and hand-carved African accessories make one feel at home in the bush. The main area consists of a canvas-covered raised wooden decking, joining the bar, dining and lounge areas. This leads into the campfire area, where evening sundowners, hosted by your guide, are enjoyed as one reflects on the magnificent day.

The rooms

The camp consists of six beautifully-appointed en-suite (the deep baths are heavenly) tents and one bricks-and mortar family cottage, distributed evenly along the lagoon. The furnishings follow the same raw hardwood themes as the central tents, creating a warm earthy feel. There's just the right amount of homely comfort that does not detract from the environment beyond. The windows have their own natural air conditioning. Covered by mosquito netting, with canvas flaps, you can leave them open for the cool summer breezes, or close them in winter for warmth. End your day relaxing on your private deck, beverage in hand.

Activities

Activities at Khwai Lediba include day and night game drives in the concession and further afield. Seasonal mokoro trips, which involve drifting past elephants and hippos in low-riding dugout canoes, are a must. A particularly special activity is a walking safari. These are led by knowledgeable, local guides, who revel in sharing the magic of the wilds with you.
