Northern Rwanda's Mountain Gorilla View Lodge is just 10 minutes by road from the main entrance of Volcanoes National Park, home to families of magical, and rare, mountain gorillas. Mountain Gorilla View Lodge has 30 spacious, stone-walled chalets with warm, slightly dated interiors and African decor. Each has a fireplace (nights are chilly), which is lit in the evenings, a large sitting area, a comfortable bed (with hot-water bottles) and roomy en-suite bathroom with open shower, which can make the floor slippery when wet.
With famous peaks just beyond its lush border, the lodge is just 10 minutes from the entrance of Volcanoes National Park.
Some chalets are much further from the main areas, which can feel too far after a day of trekking. If you prefer to be closer to the amenities, bag a room near the lodge.
The lodge is starting to show its age and the rooms can get cold so pack accordingly - although hot water bottles and a crackling fire are always waiting for you at bed time.
