About Mwamba Bush Camp

Remote and peaceful setting amongst prime Zambian wildlife
Found a 3 hour bush walk from its sister camp Kaingo, Mwamba has all the hands on and professional service of Kaingo, but the uniqueness of an intimate, spectacular wildlife setting. The camp lies on the banks of the Mwamba River in the grasslands where passing prides of lions march through the small and comfortable camp, shadowing the herds of animals making use of the river each day. Like its sister camp Kaingo, Mwamba is completely solar powered, eliminating any unnatural noises in the evenings and allowing you to experience the bush in simplistic, natural settings.

Property details

The property

The main dining area is set underneath a large ebony tree entwined with vines, a beautiful rustic bar envelops the trunk of a large tree at its centre with views over the nearby river. Sandy floors and reed walls create a sense of back to the basics, all amenities met without the fuss and frills. In the camp it's not about opulence but more the connection with the bush that you are here to experience, and you won’t be disappointed.

The rooms

With only four reed- walled and thatch roofed chalets able to accommodate a maximum of eight guests this is a wonderfully intimate camp relishes in creating an intimate space for you to relax in. Large outdoor showers, light and simple African decor touches and an array of open windows, covered with gauze, frame the outside bush. Piping hot showers in the evenings after game drives and shaded verandas with chairs overlooking the riverbed complete the simple, rustic atmosphere.

Activities

Game drives and walking safaris will reveal elephants, large herds of buffalo, wildebeest, zebra, impala and eland, as well as the resident Mwamba lion pride. The thick, riverine bush is also perfect for leopard sightings, particularly in the evenings. Guests may also choose to sleep out at the Numbu platform or spend a night fly camping, and during the day, there are several fantastic photographic hides, ready for you to while away the hours.

Insiders tip

Insiders Tip

Not every activity at Mwamba has to be in a vehicle and in fact, some of the best ones aren't. Try spending time at the hide in the early hours of the morning and watch the animals coming down for their first drink of the day. Magic.
Something to think about

Something to think about

If walking is your thing, book a couple of nights at sister camp Kaingo and do the guided, three-hour walk between them. You'll traverse some of the most stunning areas of the park on foot and the chances of bumping into the local wildlife is high.
