The largest of the castles, Pezula is surrounded by manicured lawns, interspersed with lovely old trees. There are three rooms inside, as well as a courtyard, three separate patios, a large pool and gym outside. Both the Cliff Castle and the Beach Castle sleep a maximum of two people in one suite. For maximum romance (and privacy!), choose Beach, with its private garden and heated plunge pool, and for whale-watching right from the patio and direct access to the beach, it has to be Cliff. All castles have fully-equipped kitchens with private chefs and plenty of living space.
Pezula Castle has three large suites, each with a private terrace facing the Indian ocean. The rooms are elegant and tastefully decorated, and the marble-clad ensuite bathrooms have deep, freestanding tubs and rain showers. The private suite at the Beach Castle is whimsical and charming - a calming retreat overlooking the azure waters of the Indian Ocean, and the ensuite bathroom features a vast double shower. And in the Cliff Castle, it's all about relaxed beachside living.
Staying at the Castles can be a lazy, sun-soaked getaway, or an action-packed adventure. Bring a book and and befriend a sun lounger in your garden; amble along the exclusive beach in search of sea shells; or scan the horizon for dolphins and whales from your patio. For something (a little!) more active, head up to the resort with a chauffeur, and enjoy a round of golf or game of tennis, try your hand at archery, or visit the spa. Hikers will love the extensive forest trails - keep an eye out for the shy forest elephants - and water babies can kayak up the nearby river mouth. In the evening, enlist the services of your private chef or feast at the fine dining Zachary's or bistro-style Cafe Z. Oh, and the pretty town of Knysna is only a few minutes drive away, if you need a change of scene.
