About Pimalai Resort & Spa

In a world of crystalline waves and golden sunsets, this is paradise with a capital 'P'.
On a grain of land off Thailand's coast, Pimalai combines the best of jungle escape and high-brow resort. Translating as, 'a little patch of heaven', Pimalai certainly lives up to its name. Drink in views of the shimmering Andaman Sea from a shaded lounger on the beach and listen for the calls of macaques in the garden, which happens to be 100 acres of cashew, palm and coconut trees. It's hard to beat cocktails at the Horizon pool, which, at 200 feet above sea-level, feels like it's floating on air. The island of Koh Lanta is is just perfect for adventures from the seat of a motorbike and the ocean never has to call twice.

Property details

The property

It's no surprise that Pimalai has some award-winning features. The spa is incredibly pretty with everything from luxuriating salt scrubs straight from the Andaman Sea to purifying clay wraps; and complete with sumptuous views, the Seven Seas serves tasty fusion cuisine. Grab seafood and sundowners on beach at Rak Talay and tuck into Thai classics at the ornate Spice&Rice pavilion. Spend time in the studio with zen yoga sessions and Muay Thai boxing classes. There are two infinity pools with matching sea views to cool off in!

The rooms

Pimalai has an array of rooms and villas scattered through the forest, on the hillside and out by the beachfront. Characterised by wide windows, glossy teak floors and spacious balconies, the air-conditioned rooms are breezy and just the right amount of island-style. The bathrooms are a good size with a double-ended tub and walk-in shower. The villas range in size and style; some have a large infinity pool, some have a beachside dining gazebo and the split-level Chairman Villa is the grandest and most private of them all.

Activities

Set sail into Ba Kantiang Bay to find the abundant diving spots where lion fish lurk in underwater caves and Hawksbill sea turtle might surprise you round the reefs. Explore nearby islands and stop for a picnic beneath a palm or explore the quiet mangroves by kayak. Just off the island, enjoy anything from paddleboarding and windsurfing. The island itself is a treasure trove of secluded waterfalls and softly trodden trails. Enjoy a dramatic fire show on the beach or learn to cook the Thai way and impress all your pals when you get home.
