Pioneers' main hub is the lounge, dining and bar area, the latter a rugged, industrial-style watering hole overlooking the garden. You can choose to have meals alfresco too, or in the stylish dining room with printed, high-back chairs and local decor. In your down time, the homely lounge is fantastic for digging into a new book or pull up an armchair on the terrace. Pioneers also boasts two pools (one for wading), a spa, and a curio market for picking up some souvenirs.
Pioneers may have a total of 50 rooms but it certainly doesn't feel like it. Each room is spacious and individually-decorated in fun, nature-themed prints. The rooms are polished and thoughtfully designed with plenty of natural light and views of the garden. Each room has a double or twin beds, air-conditioning and tea and coffee facilities. The en-suite bathrooms are complete with a shower and double vanity area and there are also four family rooms, which are more than comfortable if you're bringing the kids.
You don't come to Victoria Falls to sit in your room and there are a million things to do here! Take in the spectacle from the walkways along the precipice, a boat trip in the mist below, or from the air on the 'Flight of the Angels'. For real adrenaline-seekers, there's bungee jumping or the gorge swing, a 70-metre freefall before swinging through the gorge below. Otherwise, go wildlife-spotting on a canoeing safari, white-water rafting, or enjoy a sunset cruise on the Zambezi.
