A chic safari camp in an exclusive concession in the Delta
At the end of 2017, Wilderness Safaris welcomed another stylish camp to their portfolio: Qorokwe Camp. Located in the exclusive Qorokwe Concession, bordering the renowned Moremi Game Reserve in the south-eastern part of the Okavango Delta, the location certainly ticks quite a few boxes. The remote landscape is rather special too, with crystal-clear waterways, jewel-like islands dotted with palm trees, and dense riverine forests opening out onto wide plains. Wildlife is equally as diverse, and highlights include cheetah, leopard, large prides of lion, even bigger herds of buffalo, elephant and lechwe. So, all the ingredients for a fantastic safari - and the camp certainly doesn't let the side down either!

The focal point at Qorokwe is the magnificent main deck overlooking the lagoon. Wooden walkways link the dining room, bar, lounge and library to the outer terrace, complete with infinity pool and loungers, and the entire area is raised on split-level platforms to make the most of the stunning views across the water. Just below is a wonderful outdoor boma with a huge central fire bowl, cleverly designed to give the appearance of being afloat on the tranquil lagoon.
Eight elegant double or twin suites, and a spacious family unit with its own splash pool, lie along the edge of the lagoon, linked to the main part of the camp by suspended wooden walkways. All rooms are ensuite, and feature a mix of contemporary timber and steel frames, with traditional canvas shade panels as walls. The style is slick and polished without detracting from the raw wilderness feel, and the views across the water are breath-taking.
There's more than one way to safari, and Qorokwe (almost) offers them all. Guided game drives by day and night, bush walks, and canoe trips in traditional dug-out mokoros offer the chance to see huge herds of elephant, buffalo, lechwe and good numbers of plains game. Predators are well represented too, and you should spot prides of lion, leopard, cheetah and even wild dog. Back in camp, relax in the infinity pool overlooking the lagoon and soak up the magic of the Delta with a cold drink in hand.
Qorokwe Camp is owned by Wilderness safaris which aims to double its conservation impact by 2030, protecting 6 million acres of land. Their framework focuses on Educate, Empower, and Protect pillars, building a conservation economy, nurturing future leaders, and preserving unfenced wilderness. Through immersive hospitality experiences and partnerships with nonprofits like Children in the Wilderness and the Wilderness Trust, they engage guests in conservation efforts and address diverse threats to wilderness, wildlife, and communities.
