About Simbavati Fynbos on Sea

A charming, intimate hotel not far from Knysna with panoramic ocean & mountain views.
The name 'Fynbos on Sea' couldn't describe this boutique hotel any better, combining its location in a sprawling fynbos reserve along the Garden Route with spectacular views of a tranquil bay. Almost entirely wrapped in glass, Simbavati Fynbos embraces these dreamy views from a perch high above the shoreline and you'll spend many happy hours soaking it all in from the cliff-edge pool. If you're more actively inclined, discover the countryside on hikes or bike rides, meander along the beach, or get a bird's-eye-view with a paragliding adventure. Back at base, there are just nine suites, each decorated with a subtle touch and inspired by the plentiful natural beauty.

Property details

The property

When you're not snapping pics of the Cape Floral Kingdom or beach-hopping, enjoy the supreme comfort at Fynbos on Sea. It could be tucking into a new read in front of the fire on one of the enormous couches, or enjoying a feast of lip-smacking dishes in the dining room, surrounded by vases of pincushion proteas and beautiful views. You could also choose to dine 'out' at the nearby Bistro, which comes highly recommended. Whatever you choose, the views of mountains, ocean and flowering hillsides will be heavenly and you'll be looked after like royalty.

The rooms

There is a range of room types with varied yet equally stunning views, from the Outeniqua Mountains to the rugged coastline. Some suites enjoy a garden sitting area while others have a private terrace; either way, it's worth waking up in time to catch the sunrise! The bathrooms are well-appointed, some with a soaking tub or outdoor shower. For families or larger groups, there is a two-bedroom suite on the upper floor and an exclusive cottage a short walk away with its own heated splash pool.

Activities

Delve head-first into nature along the many hiking and biking trails, or take a 4x4 drive to spot the local fauna. Head down to the beach and soak up the sun, go for a dip, explore the dunes or watch the water for seals, dolphins and whales (in the right season). During low tide, snorkelling in the pristine rockpools is a delight and you never know what you might see. For the adrenaline-seekers, book a paragliding excursion off Gericke's Point Lookout for the ultimate view.
