Tamodi's resembles a classic safari-style lodge , with thatched roofs, exposed beams, packed stone walls, and elevated timber viewing decks facing the densely wooded valleys and mountains. A cosy library and two comfortable guest lounges have several open fire places for winter days, with a swimming pool and sun lounge for summer, and a wine cellar that carries an excellent selection of South African labels. Breakfasts are served fireside, or out on the deck.
Four sumptuous guest suites are decorated in elegant African style, with warm natural tones, carved wooden screens, vibrant textiles and locally produced artworks. Two honeymoon suites, one in the main lodge and another in a separate cabin, have private plunge pools, teak four-poster beds and a lounge. All the suites have vast en-suite bathrooms with freestanding stone tubs; some have an outdoor rain shower overlooking the treetops. Several new suites with private on-deck pools are set to open soon.
Tamodi is a nature-lover’s paradise, with endless outdoor activities to choose from, and glorious beaches, indigenous forests (slowly recovering after the fires of July 2017) and nature reserves nearby. Stroll through the estate, or take a guided birdwatching and nature walk with the lodge owner. Plettenberg Bay, with its excellent restaurants, street cafes, shops and beaches is a short hop from the lodge. Further afield, Nature’s Valley, Tsitsikamma Forest, Knysna and Sedgefield make easy day trips.
