About The Slate

Urban style meets family-friendly at this Phuket gem
An oasis of urban style might not be what you expect from a family hotel in Phuket, and whilst it's certainly unusual, somehow The Slate just works. The space is perfectly suited to both adults and kids, with plenty of pools to splash in, a spa for parents to retreat to, a restaurant with exciting cuisine for big and small - and a bar for when the little ones are asleep! It's also very close to the airport, so there shouldn't be too many 'are we there yets?' from wriggly kids after a longhaul flight! But don't worry, the lush walled garden blocks most airport noise, and the private gate leading to silky Nai Yang beach and completes the holiday picture.

Property details

The property

This sprawling resort with its chic industrial charm is ideal for adults and children alike. The three swimming pools are a delight (infinity for grown ups, shallow for kids, and one in between) and whilst the kids are being entertained at the fantastic kids club, there's spa for unwinding and a pool bar for mojitos. Multiple restaurants cater to all palettes and those looking for something more high-end won't be disappointed by the sumptuous offering at Black Ginger, located in the middle of a lagoon and accessed only by boat.

The rooms

If there is such a thing as 'tropical industrial', The Slate is it. Designed by architect Bill Bensley, there's lots of concrete and tin around, but balanced perfectly with steamy gardens and pretty ponds. In the midst of the gardens, there are 177 suites to chose from, all with the same sleek, urban decor. All have private balconies or courtyards, WiFi, TVs and safes. There are larger suites available for families, and those looking to up the ante will enjoy the poolside suites and private pool villas.

Activities

There are plenty of watersports to keep everyone busy, including kayaking, windsurfing, standup paddle-boarding, and diving. The resort can arrange trips to see local temples for the culturally inclined, and bikes can also be rented for those looking to explore further. Young and old can both enjoy the cooking classes on offer, and, for a holiday breather from time to time, little ones will have a ball at the top notch kids club.

What you'll love

What you'll love

You don't need to be a parent to enjoy indulging (escaping) to the luxurious Coqoon Spa, or to appreciate a cocktail or two at the beach bar.
Insiders tip

Insiders Tip

There are three pools to splash in and laze by, but for a bit of extra privacy, book a Private Pool Villa and enjoy your own little lagoon to float in.
Something to think about

Something to think about

The walled garden does an excellent job at blocking out sound from the nearby by airport but you will occasionally hear an engine or two.
