If you can drag yourself away from the stunning bedrooms you'll find a welcoming lounge with white sofas, exposed beams and hand-picked African art. Even the floors are stylish, adorned with zebra-skin rugs, and floor to ceiling windows make the most of the fabulous lagoon vistas. Outside, there's a swimming pool and a shaded lounge with plenty of wicker patio furniture and the same glorious views, and there's also a snug library with apt, porthole-style windows to peer through.
The six suites are impeccably lovely, with sparkling white tiles, crisp linen and modern decor. They all face the lagoon, so views are a given, as are spacious balconies from which to enjoy them. We like the corner view from the terrace of Spitkop Suite, and the tasteful furniture, from the stylish luggage bench to the quirky writer’s desk. For a room with a fireplace stay in the Noetzie Suite, and for the most impressive bath, we recommend the Gouna Suite.
After a bespoke breakfast on your private terrace at Villa Afrikana, it might be time to explore the pretty town of Knysna. Start off with light shopping at the marina, before lunch at one of the popular restaurants at the quays. In the afternoon, hire a boat or catamaran for a champagne and oyster cruise on the lagoon, or gentle cruise around the Heads. In the evening, let the Villa take care of your dinner reservation and all that's left to do is enjoy it!
