What to do in Anamaduwa
In Anamaduwa, you'll head off the beaten track and turn left, entering a lush, green landscape criss-crossed by irrigation lakes built almost 2,000 years ago. A nature-lover's heaven, there is birdlife in every direction including chattering hornbills, jewel-bright kingfishers and wading storks. You'll likely spend a lot of time at the water, cooling off with a swim, kayaking or paddleboarding as you take in the scenery. You can also do a little exploring on two wheels, meandering through the jungle to discover remote villages and startling temples, perhaps even coming across an elephant along the way.
