Casablanca Trips & Tours

Sample an enduring French legacy and iconic architecture in the city on everyone's lips.
Conjuring memories of great, wartime films and romantic ideals of French colonies, Casablanca is, in fact, one of Morocco’s most modern cities. Established by the French as a key commercial port, this is a place where the young and ambitious come to make it big, international restaurants provide a welcome break from tagines, and art deco architecture provides an enticing backdrop to a trendy café culture. And although it’s perhaps not as evocative as Fez or Marrakesh, the city still ticks plenty of boxes on a Moroccan hot list: the iconic Moorish buildings are handsome - and best admired in the downtown area – and for a true flavour of the city, take a stroll by the Central Market and the Pasha of Casablanca’s reception hall. Dominating the skyline, Hassan II Mosque is hard to miss – and when dusk hits, where better to end up than Rick’s Café for a gin cocktail?
Things to do

What to do in Casablanca

A fusion of Europe and Africa, Casablanca is quite an anomaly in Morocco. Sitting on the Atlantic coast, the city has a multitude of faces, from the Moorish architecture that rubs shoulders with Art Deco houses, to the incredible Hassan II Mosque, the second largest in the world. Take in the highlights on stroll from the Cinema Rialto to the Palais de Justice and the iconic Rick's Cafe - make sure to toast Humphrey Bogart while you're there. And we haven't even started on the fabulous seafood, bustling Central Market or the inspiring Villa des Arts...

Why you'll love it

Much of Morocco is about the glories of a distant past, yet Casablanca almost entirely celebrates the future – and it’s refreshing, fun, and totally different to the rest of the country.

Book a private guide and ask to stop at the Marché Central to buy seafood for lunch, and have it cooked right in front of you at one of the local grills. Bon appetit!

Something to think about

As with any fast-growing, cosmopolitan city, Casablanca has its share of social problems and extreme poverty, which can be difficult to see up close.
