What to do in Chilean Patagonia

Spanning 1,000 miles from north to south, Chilean Patagonia has to be seen to be believed. What you do will depend on which corner you choose to explore, but rest assured that adventure is never far away. You could be trekking along mountainous trails and riding horseback across the grasslands one day, sailing past glaciers or skiing down volcanoes the next - and remember to squeeze in a soak in a thermal spring too. With no shortage of national parks, or fabulous lodges to call home, Patagonia has something for everyone.

Summit Cerro Benítez and see Andean Condors

A transfer will pick you up at around 10am in your accommodation, and the you will head to Laguna Sofia, where you will join today guide in a small briefing. Then you will hike towards the summit of Cerro Benítez to witness the majestic Andean Condor and other Patagonian birds like eagles, woodpeckers, and falcons. Here you will have a small snack while photographing the incredibles views. The excursion unfolds along a moderately challenging trail that blends native forest with incredible views of Laguna Sofía and all its surrounding mountains. The trek lasts approximately three hours. You will be back at around 14:00pm.

Hike to Laguna Esmeralda in Cerro Castillo

A getaway to have the opportunity to take one of the hikes with the best views that exist in the region. It is a trek of medium difficulty to reach the Cerro Castillo Lagoon, a beautiful emerald green color at the foot of this mountain range that dominates the Ibáñez River basin with its rock towers and glaciers. Aysén in an extensive region with many attractions and this outing allows you to enjoy a first “glance” at one of its main highlights that will trigger the desire to return again and again to this region of Patagonia.

Hike the Mirador Condor trail to its lookout point

This short hike is well worth the uphill climb. Once you get to the top, you will have expansive views of Torres del Paine. Condor circle overhead and the wind whips across the formidable rock formations.
