What to do in Easter Island

Over 3,700 kilometres off the coast of Chile, Rapa Nui (Easter Island) is a place of ancient culture and enchanting beauty. First up, a visit to Ranu Raraku is a must, the site where most of the iconic moai statues were carved and some of the most famous still stand. Afterwards, delve deeper into the history and learn all about the island's ancestors at the Orongo ceremonial village, and share in a traditional dance show. There are also myriad hiking, biking and horseback riding trails to see the resting places of the moai, as well as some of the most incredible viewpoints where you can even see the curvature of the Earth! And then it's down to the coast for under water cave explorations, snorkelling amongst sunken moai, surf lessons, and watching sunsets from the pink-sand beaches.

Watch the sunset on the moai of Ahu Tahai

Witness the sun gently dip into the Pacific Ocean, painting a mesmerizing canvas that only Easter Island can offer. This journey begins an hour and a half before dusk, departing from the hotel and heading to the revered ceremonial complex of Ahu Tahai. This archaeological gem, restored in 1974, houses three distinct ahus: Ko Te Riku, boasting restored eyes; the weathered moai of Tahai; and Vai Uri, proudly displaying its five moais. As the sun sets, these ancient sculptures create a captivating silhouette, offering an unmatched backdrop for photos. It's a moment where time stands still, forever etched in memory. Visit the moais of Ahu Akivi & stones of Puna Pau

Recognized as part of the Rapa Nui National Park, this location also holds the distinction of being a UNESCO World Heritage site. Your exploration continues at the unrestored Ahu Hanga Poukura. Here, once towering moais now lie fallen and grounded. Your journey takes a turn towards the Puna Pau quarry, a crater known for its vibrant red Scoria stone, which was utilized to craft the Pukaos.
