What to do in Portofino
Portofino is small enough to walk in twenty minutes, but we’re guessing you didn't come here to stay on land. The proper way to see this stretch of Liguria is from the water. Book a half-day on a Long Island Sportman, or splash out on a Riva Aquariva for the full Hollywood-on-the-Med treatment. Stop for a swim, then putter round to San Fruttuoso, an 11th-century abbey reachable only by boat or on foot. End the day with focaccia and a glass of crisp Ligurian white as the sun sinks below the coastline. Inland, head into Portofino's protected park to an eco-farm for a pesto-making class. And it's only a short hop to the Cinque Terre, where you can hike between the five villages or see them from the sea with a local fisherman.
