What to do in Lake District

Chile's Lake District is as picturesque as they come and the spread of mirror-smooth lakes, swathes of ancient forest, and volcanoes that rise in the distance is utterly magical. Pucon is a hub of activity, whether you're after watersports, hiking, biking, or horseback riding - or a soak in the thermal springs - but there's plenty of that across the district too. For an adrenaline boost, go white water rafting on a glacial river and if you're an avid skiier, the Lake District has fabulous volcanic slopes. In the case of Volcan Villarrica, you could even trek to its bubbling crater and toboggan back down! Not to be missed is a taste of the area's Mapuche history on a boat ride to Chiloe Island, where jewel-bright stilted houses line the shore.

Explore the outdoors in Futangue Park

Futangue has more than 13.500 hectares of native forest and almost 100 kilometers of hiking trails, where you are struck by stunning vistas of the south of Chile, between lakes, mountains and volcanoes. We offer diverse excursions for all levels and interests. You can go snowshoeing through snow covered forests during winter, photograph colorful lenga trees during autumn, enjoy the art of fly fishing in spring or set out on different excursions during the summer, through the interior of the Valdivian forest and conquer the highest summits of the park.

Visit the Geometricas Thermal Hot Springs

The Geometricas Thermal Hot Springs are located in Coñaripe sector. The Geometric Baths, formerly known as Termas de Cajón Negro, are the result of an ambitious project carried out by the architect Germán del Sol, who, through the construction of the thermal baths, mainly of wood and natural materials, wanted to bring nature to the geometry, to achieve a harmonious environment. Enjoy a full day in the area while immersing in nature and architecture!

Río Puelo Fly Fishing

The next six days are all about fishing, eating and relaxing. Each day you will rise early in the morning to enjoy a breakfast of local flavors, fresh fruit and homemade breads made daily by the folks at the lodge. After breakfast we depart by boat for a full day of fishing for Rainbow, Brown Trout and trophy sized Chinook Salmon. A hearty lunch prepared by the cooks is served every day on the river by your guides. At the end of each day of fishing you will return to the lodge for evening meals of sumptuous local meats and fish. The days of summer here in Patagonia are long so the evening hours after dinner are a great time to get in some late evening fishing (head in any direction and you’ll find water)

Parque Tagua Tagua

We are a Private Protected Area of 3,000 hectares, located in the basin of the Puelo River, on the shores of Tagua Tagua Lake, Cochamo commune, in the Chilean Patagonia. Founded in 2013 for preservation, scientific research and ecotourism. You can visit us for the day or stay in 3 cozy shelters, to explore all the trails enjoying the landscapes, flora and fauna of the pristine forest at any time of the year. Evergreen forest, water and mountains interact here in an endless cycle of life, giving home to Millenary Alerces, Coihues and Lichens among others. It is home to species such as Pudú, Pumas, Monito del Monte, Chucao … The geographical characteristics and a bold access for humans allow the Park to remain virgin. Natural barriers, such as Lake Tagua Tagua in its lower part and granite peaks in its upper part, have protected this beautiful place from human intervention. And the forces of nature: the wind, the rains, the rivers with their waterfalls and the displacements of glaciers that millions of years ago are no longer there, populated the Tagua Tagua Park with majestic pieces of art of nature. We invite you to visit the Tagua Tagua Park.

Rio Ventisquero Heli Fly Fishing

We left the Lodge in our helicopter with the guide. The flight takes 30 minutes to the Ventisquero River, a tributary of the Puelo River. The river has a path that runs 10 kilometers following the northwest bank, passing through a native forest, with many coihues, ulmos and myrtle trees. The trail crosses shallow streams on our way and runs along the banks of the Puelo, allowing us to admire the turquoise sedimentary waters of the Toro glacier. The trail is almost flat and pleasant. Downstream we can continue, if you wish, to the banks of the Puelo River for another 10 kilometers. The helicopter will be waiting for us at the end with a healthy snack on site.
