Timbuktu are absolutely brilliant. This was our first experience with them and in our opinion, there is nothing they can do to improve the brilliant service they offer. Our agent Jonty, was with us all the way through our holiday in Africa, checking in at each destination to make sure we’d arrived safely and that all was OK. One of the airlines we had booked with, pulled out of South Africa during our holiday which was a bit stressful as we had to organised flights with another airline. Jonty sorted everything for us which took the stress out of it. We would highly recommend Timbuktu and will definitely be using them again.

We have a perfect trip to South Africa and Zimbabwe thanks to Timbuktu. Our agent Katherine is really responsive to our needs and our requests, she also keeps our cost reasonable! We were there for our 25th anniversary and back to where we met, and we had very good time in South Africa! The most important thing is we know we are going to be safe and all the lodges suggested are better than expectations.

Timbuktu website provides an excellent way to map your route and select hotels/campsites nearby. They also provide a good email service to help deal with the finer details of your trip. Although, you need to still do a lot of research in terms of timings of your trip if you want to see the migration and a river crossing this can be easily lost, plus the travel time within the National parks can be very long so make sure you ask these questions. We had a few issues on our trip with quality of food and the trucks you have on the safari, you spend days in these things so worth asking, one of ours had no sun shade so made the process much harder. The only issue we had with the Travel Agent was in respect to our Hot Air Balloon trip with Champagne breakfast over the Serengeti, this was very expensive and we understood that it would just be us on our own, however on arrival there were 30 people, split between two balloons (14 in one and 16 in the other), room in the balloon basket was therefore zero, and massively restricted our view, breakfast was some 10 minutes away by truck on landing. So the concept of a romantic balloon trip for 2 was not what we got! The experience of our overall trip was 10 out of 10 The web site experience was 9 out 10 (Lack of information on the Balloon Trip) Travel Agent 8 out of 10 (due to Balloon trip not being advised correctly) Hotels/Camp sites 9 out 10 (level of food/choice was poor in some hotels) Safari Guides 9 out 10 Safari Tricks 7 out 10 Internal Flight Transfers 9 out 10 (We used Auric air)
