About Cleo Lake Kivu Hotel

A charmed and well-established hotel with spectacular views of Lake Kivu.
Gazing out across the azure water of Lake Kivu, Cleo Hotel has all the makings of a laidback getaway on Rwanda's 'Riviera'. Every space enjoys far-reaching views of the lake but perhaps best of all is the restaurant right at the water's edge where a long lunch followed by a snooze in your private cabana is definitely in order. If you're keen to explore, there's plenty to do as well. Amble along one of the many trails, go kayaking on the lake (happily, it is entirely predator free) or take a tour of a local coffee farm. On your return, a deep tissue massage is just the ticket.

Property details

The property

Bright, breezy and decorated in shades of green, the Cleo Restaurant serves a range of delicious farm-to-table dishes. Enjoy them indoors or on the terrace (along with those views), paired with Rwanda's celebrated rice-bean wine. The lakeside restaurant has a wonderfully relaxed atmosphere and fresh summery menu as well as a selection of cocktails, smoothies and gelato. In your down time, enjoy dips in the pool or head to the spa for a massage or steam in the sauna.

The rooms

The Cleo Hotel has 18 rooms separated into three types: King Suites, Apartments and Villas. All are decorated with scenes of the lake, and pretty shades of warming orange, cream and brown and chic grey. Enjoying both a forest and lake view, the Villa is the largest of the accommodation with a presidential suite, two junior suites and a standard room, spacious living and dining area, kitchenette and even its own wine bar. Other amenities in the rooms include aircon, coffee and tea facilities and wifi.

Activities

The lake will likely be your first port of call, whether you fancy a kayaking excursion, a boating safari with pitstops at the various islands, or joining locals for a spot of night fishing. There are dozens of hiking trails for you to explore or make the trip to the 'Lungs of Rwanda' for a tea or coffee farm tour. Enjoy slower moments at one of the lakeside cabanas or head to the pool whilst taking in soaring views over the lake.
