When Thailand's Dusit brand planted its flag in Nepal's capital in 2023, it brought something refreshingly different to Lazimpat's leafy streets. It's certainly not your typical Kathmandu crash pad and instead you've got an infinity pool gazing at Himalayan peaks (it's the highest in Nepal), rooftop shisha lounges pulsing with DJ sets, and Thai masseurs working their magic twelve floors above the city's bustle. The whole place feels uncluttered and calm – all clean lines and peaceful corners, and it's quickly become a clever choice for travellers who want their dal bhat served with a side of high-end sophistication.

The ground floor hums with melodies from live musicians who know exactly when to dial it down, while upstairs, the rooftop Kibu lounge cranks things up with DJs and hookah pipes against a backdrop of twinkling city lights. Between these two worlds, you'll find Soi restaurant dishing up surprisingly authentic tom yum alongside local favourites, and a spa where therapists blend Thai techniques with mountain views. But the real showstopper remains that sky-high pool where you can backstroke towards the mountains.
Spacious quarters come dressed in understated neutrals with just enough Nepali textiles to remind you where you've landed. Beds rival the comfort of anything you'll find in Bangkok, while the bathrooms deliver proper water pressure (a minor miracle in Kathmandu). Windows frame either the city's lights or, if you've played your cards right, those magnificent white peaks. The welcome fruit bowl and handwritten note might are small but lovely touches, especially after a week of eating noodles on the Annapurna Circuit.
While the hotel keeps things simple activity-wise, it's in a prime position for enjoying everything Kathmandu has to offer. The old royal palace practically neighbours the property, and staff excel at conjuring up last-minute temple tours or mountain flights. They'll also sort out white-water rafting, arrange pottery sessions in medieval Bhaktapur, or simply point you towards Shivapuri's hiking trails when city life gets too hectic. Most guests, though, use this as their decompression chamber – a soft landing before tackling Everest Base Camp or the recovery ward afterwards.
That infinity pool on the twelfth floor. Floating above Kathmandu's city chaos while the Himalayas play peekaboo through the clouds is pure magic, especially at sunset with a Gorkha beer in hand.
Book a momo-making class with the kitchen team – they'll teach you the perfect pleat technique, and you'll leave knowing exactly why Nepalis are so particular about their dumplings.
You're a good twenty-minute stroll from Thamel's restaurant scene, which means dodging traffic on some rather adventurous road crossings if you fancy dinner out.

A city of temples, traders, and teeny tiny surprises behind every doorway.
