The property

Upon entering this 1930s mansion, you're met with the sight of show-stopping oil paintings, velvet sofas and a red carpeted spiral staircase winding its way to your room. Furnished with vintage mirrors and pinstriped chairs, the restaurant serves a menu of hearty Moroccan cuisine, but for lighter fare, the rooftop cafe offers Mediterranean dishes, signature cocktails and views of the city. When you're not exploring, enjoy an authentic hammam treatment with black soap, eucalyptus and jasmine at the spa.

The rooms

Filled with colour, art, and vintage wooden furnishings, the rooms are bold and unique. A large, comfortable bed dominates each room, which could be decorated with anything from Charlie Chaplin posters and old-fashioned film lights to mod, circular shelves and mannequins draped in pearls. Bathrooms all feature sleek marble or mosaic designs with large mirrors and rainfall showers, and some have a Victorian tub. Suites are sound-proofed for extra comfort, with a canopy bed, living area with a fireplace, and sunny terrace.

In the middle of Casablanca's Art Deco neighbourhood, Le Doge is within strolling distance of the palm-lined boulevards that house the Cinema Rialto (Josephine Baker made her war-time debut here), the Hotel Volubilis where bullet holes are still visible in the facade, the ornate Palais de Justice, and the famous clock tower.
