Each camping spot is chosen for its unique take on the landscape and the fire pit, surrounded by canvas chairs, will always be positioned for the best, unobstructed views. This is where you'll convene for freshly-brewed coffee in the morning, and drinks, stories and stargazing in the evening. The open-sided dining tent hosts a single table where superb, homemade fare is served up. It may be simple but the charms of glowing lanterns and a well-laid table should not be underestimated.
Though relatively simple, the tents have everything you need. They are tall enough to stand up in and large enough for two twin beds that all have quality linens, decent mattresses and feather pillows. At the rear, through a mesh zippered door, you'll find the bathroom with toilet, basin and bucket shower. Hot water for showering isn't instant but made to order and despite how it sounds, bathing this way isn't hardship and often comes out a favourite experience.
Because of its abundance of water, Chobe's game viewing remains stable year-round, though the dry season, when the animals congregate by the river, is its most productive period. The dominant predators in the region are lion and spotted hyena who often stalk the large buffalo herds, making for spectacularly fearsome encounters. Leopards, cheetah and wild dog can also be seen, though less frequently. Drives will be your core activity here but you'll have the chance to explore on guided walks and boat cruises, adding a unique dimension to your safari.
A place for unrivalled elephant sightings in Botswana and serene boat cruises along the mighty Chobe River.
