If you were to dream up the perfect desert camp, it might look something a little like The White Camel. A string of tented suites, perched along an apricot ridge in the Agafay Desert, the snow-capped Atlas Mountains are behind you and the rolling hills of the desert laid out before you. Whether you'd prefer to recline beside the pool all day or ride camel-back across the lunar-scape, you'll have more than a few 'pinch me' moments. Then, after a day with as much or as little activity as you choose, sip cocktails as the sun dips below the horizon and fall asleep in your cloud-like bed to the sound of sweet, sweet silence.
The White Camel reflects its serene desert surrounds with muted hues, light wood furnishings, and wrap-around glass walls. Breakfast is a Berber feast, enjoyed on giant white poufs in The Oasis, as long after the break of dawn as you like. For dinner, enjoy regional delicacies and Moroccan wines as you're entertained by Gnoua music and fire dancing. Right at the edge of camp, the infinity pool is a miniature oasis with canopied day beds and those neverending views.
In warm, sandy colours with crisp linens, soft rugs and high ceilings, there are a collection of luxury lodges and tents. Bedouin-style tents are simply furnished and enjoy canyon views from the private terrace, whilst lodges have a wall of glass with a picturesque sunrise or sunset vista, a curtained King-size bed, and dual air-conditioning. Outside, there is a stone cabana with plump cushions to enjoy a spot of reading, yoga, or simply to watch the desert change hues. All rooms have a fully-equipped bathroom with hot showers.
The White Camel is all about disconnecting with the outside world, escaping to the desert for some R&R by the pool or a spot of adventure - of which there's plenty! Head out to explore the rifts and peaks by horseback, quad bike, or on foot. Be sure to take your camera along to capture the rugged mountains and defiant flora that still grows. In the evening, lay back and watch the stars; you will never have seen them this clear.
Sunset from the infinity pool with a drink in hand... enough said!
If you fancy a little extra pampering, book a private massage in your tent.
This is the desert so there's no internet or TV, but you won't even miss it.
