The star of the Central African Republic is undoubtedly Dzanga-Sangha. Located in the south-westerly tip of the country on the border with Cameroon and the Congos, the national park is actually part of the larger Sangha Tri-National Park – 75,000 hectares of untouched, tropical rainforest that encompasses the respective national parks of each country. Here, there are no humans; just swathes of densely-packed trees with an incredible diversity of flora and fauna. To visit is to watch the rare forest elephant congregating at the salt water of the bais, follow western lowland gorilla with local Ba’Aka trackers, and spot hundreds of rare and beautiful butterflies, rare sitatunga and the endemic Dzanga robin

What to do in Dzanga-Sangha

Nestled along the tranquil Sangha River, this lodge is near the remarkable Dzanga Baï, one of the few places where you can see hundreds of Forest Elephants during the day. Guests can witness their fascinating social interactions, along with sightings of elusive creatures like Bongo, Sitatunga, Giant Forest Hog, and Red River Hog.
