Radisson Collection Cape Town

Cape Town

177 Rooms
|
From $130 per person/night
Inches from the sea spray, this waterfront big-wig comes with an epic view of the Harbour.
On the very edge of Cape Town's sea front and overlooking idyllic Granger Bay Harbour (think sails floating in the breeze), the waterfront hotel certainly lives up to its name. Although Radisson Blu might be missing more of a personal touch, you couldn't get closer to the sea air while enjoying a taste of classic hospitality - and their staff makes sure there's plenty of that. There's oodles to do at the hotel too; let's just say the spa has an indoor vitality pool that won't let you down in the dreamy department. Lapping waves make the perfect soundtrack before a day of exploring Cape Town's biggest names including the likes of Table Mountain.

Lemala Mara Camp

Serengeti

12 Rooms
|
From $550 per person/night
A seasonal tented bush camp in Tanzania’s game-rich northern Serengeti.
Lemala Mara is a semi-permanent tented camp in northern Tanzania which operates between June and October. Its location is carefully chosen to coincide with the peak of the Great Wildebeest Migration that passes through the area at this time of year, following the rains. The magnificent Mara River is just a stone’s throw from camp; witness one of nature’s most exciting spectacles as the endless herds plunge into the crocodile-infested waters in their quest for fresh grazing. Expect an authentic safari experience with low-key luxuries which complement the wild and remote location, and superb game viewing.

Kirurumu Ndutu Serengeti Camp

Serengeti

7 Rooms
|
From $910 per person/night
Down-to-earth tented comfort on the migration path in southwestern Serengeti
Kirurumu Serengeti Camp is an under-canvas mobile camp that moves seasonally to catch the best of the Serengeti action, especially the Great Migration. Between December and March, the camp transfers to a private campsite at Ndutu in the Serengeti's lush Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Here, it's ideally perched on the edge of the plains to witness the migration and, especially, calving season for wildebeest and zebra. This charming little camp keeps things simple, with facilities that are more basic than those at other safari camps. That makes it an affordable option to explore the wilderness in more than adequate comfort.

Roving Bushtops

Serengeti

6 Rooms
|
From $2.5K per person/night
Supreme luxury meets action-packed safari thrills in the Serengeti
Welcome to the modern era of mobile safari, with camps that deliver ringside seats to the wildlife action. Roving Bushtops, as it says on the box, is picked up lock, stock and barrel. Not a gram of luxury is lost, though – its six, completely contained, mobile trailers transform into out-of-this-world tents. We love the Serengeti – one of the planet's richest game-viewing regions, and famous for its annual Great Migration. To make the most of the sightings, the camp moves to the Central Serengeti from June to early January; then to the southern Kusini region until late April.

Lake Ndutu Luxury Tented Lodge

Serengeti

22 Rooms
|
From $390 per person/night
Enjoy the greatest show on earth from this trusted spot
Tucked in an acacia forest with views across a lake-filled valley, Lake Ndutu Tented Camp gives you a gorgeous foothold in Tanzania's Ngorongoro Conservation Area, a top safari destination. The camp is popular for its refined service and handsome facilities, but principally for its location near the Great Migration action. Here, hundreds of thousands of wildebeest, zebra and antelope pause on their journey to graze and calve, followed by eager predators. There are 20 tents, so the camp may not offer the intimacy of smaller outfits. But it's extremely comfortable and welcoming, and the sightings are out of this world.

Ndutu Safari Lodge

Serengeti

34 Rooms
|
From $290 per person/night
Good-value, well-established camp, central to all the Serengeti action

Established in the 1960s as the permanent camp of former professional hunter (and extravagantly moustached) George Dove, Ndutu Lodge flickers with stories of wild adventures. The camp lies just north of the rich Ngorongoro Conservation Area, overlooking Ndutu Soda Lake. With rustic accommodation and a folksy atmosphere (complete with resident genets that climb the rafters above the bar nightly), this is a good-value choice for unfussy safari-goers who're longing to witness one of Earth's most astounding spectacles. Visit between December and April, when the earth shudders as thousands of wildebeest, zebra and gazelle thunder past in search of greener grazing.

|
From $1.2K per person/night

Perched on a hillside overlooking one of Africa's most iconic wilderness areas, this isn't your average Four Seasons. Straddling a staggered series of platforms, it overlooks a waterhole and the vast Serengeti plains and not far north is one of the most productive game areas within the region. The luxury and amenities here are simply unmatched; from the restaurant to the atrium to the spa and museum, there's simply no comparison in the Serengeti – or anywhere, really.
